ANATOMY

Per-body-part health, armor value, and damage flags. Captured from the wiki's Anatomy table verbatim; values like "300 [100/s]" mean a constitution pool with that regen rate. Fatal? = killing the part downs the unit; ExDR = explosive damage resistance.

TACTICAL BRIEF

• Naturally, Medium Medium armor penetrating weaponry and explosives are the best for dispatching Hive Guards. • If hitting its Unarmored II body is not a viable option in a situation, Medium armor penetrating weaponry and explosives are the best for dispatching Hive Guards. • Two Helldivers with Light armor penetrating weaponry can easily exploit the Hive Guard's defenses by firing at its head to suppress it while another Helldiver flanks it. • The Hive Guard is still vulnerable from the front while crouching; there is a small gap between its front legs and head, where the main body may be struck. Hive Guards can also be killed by destroying their 2 claws. • Its "berserk" state is rarely seen, as Hive Guards will prioritize crouching after being shot multiple times in the head. • When it isn't crouching, its legs can be amputated by shooting the unarmored section behind armor, lowering its protection. • High DPS Medium armor penetrating weaponry such as the M-1000 Maxigun, MG-43 Machine Gun, or SMG-32 Reprimand, can pierce the head armor and kill the Hive Guard before it can become a threat. • Due to them being relatively silent, they can sometimes catch Helldivers off guard if they are distracted by other bugs chasing them. • Fire is an effective counter to Hive Guards due to its Heavy armor penetration. This makes flamethrowers like the FLAM-40 Flamethrower, and grenades like the G-10 Incendiary and G-13 Incendiary Impact particularly effective against these enemies, alongside other weapons that can apply this effect, like the SG-451 Cookout and the SG-225IE Breaker Incendiary.
