GATEKEEPER

Gatekeeper constructs represent a vainglorious Illuminate attempt at making Veracitors combat ready; much like strapping guns to a forklift. Gatekeepers are piloted only by the most narrow-minded of the Illuminate, and their discriminatory lasers cut through all Free-Thinking life as soon as it comes near.

TACTICAL BRIEF

• Gatekeepers, unlike Veracitors have Heavy armor and prefer to stay further away. They have two ranged attacks. A charged, large AOE Plasma Starcannon blast with immense damage that can ragdoll from a distance. • A telegraphed moderate damage, rapid-fire volley that slowly tracks the targeted Helldiver, similar to a Gazer. • The cockpit is similar to Veracitor cockpits, but it instead has Heavy armor. It is also protected by a rechargeable energy shield. When destroyed, the pilot is vulnerable to gunfire and when killed, will also destroy the mech. Note the pilot is 50% durable, unlike the Veracitor's pilot, so they may require several more rounds to kill. • The horn on the Gatekeeper's forehead is the unit's shield generator, similar to a Harvester. When destroyed, the pilot's shield is permanently disabled. It is, however Heavy armor. • Gatekeepers have a melee attack, but its use is uncommon and is easily avoided. • Firing a single high-damage shot (such as from the EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank or GR-8 Recoilless Rifle to the connecting stump that holds the Pilot's Cockpit can instantly destroy said cockpit, killing the machine with it.
