This modified Watcher seems specifically designed specifically to insert itself where it is not wanted, wreaking havoc and causing undue harm. Unlike the standard Watcher, the Obtruder forgoes calling in reinforcements in favor of attacking free-thinking targets directly.
TACTICAL BRIEF
• The low damage, slow fire rate and clear telegraphs makes individual Obtruder attacks near-ineffective. As such, it is often best to focus on more dangerous enemies unless you find yourself becoming surrounded by Obtruders.
• Obtruders can be easily dealt with using weapons with a high rate of fire and good handling, letting the shooter snap from target to target. Arc weapons and explosives can also be useful when engaging several Obtruders, due to their tendency to coalesce and form dense groups. In particular, the AC-8 Autocannon in Flak mode is very effective against them.
• Any explosives with a slower projectile(s) may have difficulty directly hitting Obtruders due their tendency to bob and weave in the air.
• Due to their high mobility and tendency to engage Helldivers in close proximity, Obtruders are susceptible to the Guard Dog lineup. The AX/AR-23 Guard Dog and AX/LAS-5 Rover have little trouble tracking and dispatching them as they approach, while the AX/ARC-3 K-9 can lock down groups of them with well-placed arc chains.
• Obtruders (like Watchers) are a medium size enemy, and so the StA-X3 W.A.S.P. Launcher will lock onto them. This is detrimental to the weapon's overall effectiveness, as Obtruders spawn in such high numbers that they can make it all but impossible for the W.A.S.P. to secure a lock-on against more dangerous enemies behind them. Similarly, the P-92 Warrant will have a hard time locking onto important targets like a Watcher about to call in reinforcements, or an Elevated Overseer, when it's surrounded by Obtruders.
• The strong lights and similar silhouettes of Obtruders can make it difficult to pick out Watchers in combat, however, Obtruders entirely lack the cone of light that Watchers emit. Obtruders also make the same noises that Watchers do.
• Due to overlapping hitbox, 2 shots to the eye with ~90 dmg weapons or 1 shot with a 200 dmg such as the LAS-58 Talon, may kill the Obtruder because 3 hitboxes are damaged: the Eye, Body, and Main with a single shot.
• Like Watchers, Obtruders explode on death and subsequent ground contact, dealing near if not lethal damage to Helldivers it lands extremely close to. This explosion affects other, nearby Obtruders, causing large groups to potentially chain-react.
