DROPSHIP
Packed to the brim with robotic infantry, Dropships conduct rapid deployment of mindless, mechanized despotism.
TACTICAL BRIEF
• Landed Dropships encountered during the "Destroy Dropships" objective of a Sabotage Air Base mission have a different health and armor pool compared to their flying variants, which is detailed on that dedicated mission page.
• During a mission, Dropships always come from the same direction. Helldivers can keep an eye on this to intercept them.
• The EAT-411 Leveller, FAF-14 Spear, MS-11 Solo Silo, and TD-220 Bastion MK XVI main gun can destroy and cleave the fuselage of Dropships, guaranteeing the destruction of any Automatons loaded onto it. The Dropship must be destroyed before it begins to drop its payload.
• The thrusters of the Dropship are its weak points. Destroying any one of its four thrusters will knock it out of the air, likely causing it to fall onto its payload and explode.
• If the SEAF SAM Site objective has been completed, it will attempt to aid in shooting down any Dropships and other Automaton aircraft during the mission. However, depending on the location and flight path of the Dropship, it may not be able to destroy the Dropship before it can drop its payload.
• As they are hanging from the underbelly of the Dropship, it is possible to damage and destroy any Automaton passengers before and while they're being deployed. Weapons with high splash damage such as the GL-21 Grenade Launcher can accomplish this most effectively, as this may be more effective than trying to land several shots on the same thruster before the Dropship can escape.
• The Dropships have twelve available spaces to carry Automatons (six on each side). Each Automaton unit takes up a different amount of space on the Dropship. All Troopers and all Devastators take up one slot.
• Both the normal Scout Strider and the reinforced variant take up only one slot despite the visual size of them.
• All Hulks take up four slots.
• The War Strider takes eight slots.
• All tank variants and the Factory Strider take up all fourteen slots.
• Dropships in Metropolises will descend from the sky like Warp Ships instead of take their usual flight entry, increasing the difficulty of interception.
